This was kind of cute. As mentioned, I’m using WebCT to help manage by courses this semester, and I think I’ll continue doing this in the future, because the software is kind of fun to use. Computer services provides people running such courses with a default welcome page, which is intentionally designed to be boring and ugly so as to motivate one to improve it. Anyway, they just sent around a reminder note today saying people should not be using the default, and the email provided not only the stick of reminding users how unattractive the default page is, but the carrot of a more attractive webpage if only they could make it look like this one (which I think looks really good) or <drumroll></drumroll> mine. Hehehe, someone thinks I’m a web designer. This is even more amusing than getting my previous employers to think I was a political philosopher. (—Was that one of those It’s funny because it’s true jokes? —Err, that’s it. Right. And by the way, there are many more good lines where that came from.)
